As 2017 is already upon us here is a list of upcoming movies soon to hit theaters. 2016 was a “decent” year for movies but we at FILMGAMER.com believe 2017 will be more impressive simply by the titles announced.
Movies that we are looking forward to:
Underworld: Blood Wars (Jan 6) – REVIEW
Vampire death dealer, Selene (Kate Beckinsale) fights to end the eternal war between the Lycan clan and the Vampire faction that betrayed her.
Split (Jan 20) – DUAL REVIEW
After three girls are kidnapped by a man with 24 distinct personalities they must find some of the different personalities that can help them while running away and staying alive from the others.
XXX: Return of Xander Cage (Jan 20) – REVIEW
Xander Cage is left for dead after an incident, though he secretly returns to action for a new, tough assignment with his handler Augustus Gibbons.
John Wick 2 (Feb 10) – DUAL REVIEW
The continuing adventures of former hitman, John Wick.
Logan (Mar 3) – REVIEW
In the near future, an aging Wolverine and Professor X must protect a young female clone of Wolverine from an evil organization led by Nathanial Essex.
In the 1970s, a team of explorers and soldiers travel to an uncharted island in the Pacific, unaware that they are crossing into the domain of monsters, as well as the mythic Kong, the “king” of the island.
Wilson (Mar 24)
A lonely, neurotic and hilariously honest middle-aged man reunites with his estranged wife and meets his teenage daughter for the first time.
Charming (Apr 14)
Three fairy tale princesses find themselves engaged to the same guy, Prince Charming.
Alien: Covenant (May 19)
The crew of the colony ship Covenant, bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, discover what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world. When they uncover a threat beyond their imagination, they must attempt a harrowing escape.
Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales (26 May)
Captain Jack Sparrow searches for the trident of Poseidon.
Captain Underpants (Jun 2)
Two mischievous kids hypnotize their mean high school principal and turn him into their comic book creation, the kind-hearted and elastic-banded Captain Underpants.
Cars 3 (Jun 16)
Lightning McQueen sets out to prove to a new generation of racers that he’s still the best race car in the world.
War of the Planet of the Apes (Jul 14) –REVIEW
A nation of genetically evolved apes led by Caesar become embroiled in a battle with an army of humans.
Dunkirk (Jul 21) –REVIEW
Allied soldiers from Belgium, the British Empire and France are surrounded by the German army and evacuated during a fierce battle in World War II.
Iron Sky: The Coming Race (Aug 14)
A follow-up to the film Iron Sky (2012) in which Nazis plan to take over the world after lying dormant in a secret military base on the moon.
Kingsman: The Golden Circle (September 22)
When an attack on the Kingsman headquarters takes place and a new villain rises, Eggsy and Merlin are forced to work together with the American agency Statesman to save the world.
Blade Runner 2049 (Oct 6)
Thirty years after the events of the first film, a new blade runner, LAPD Officer K (Ryan Gosling), unearths a long-buried secret that has the potential to plunge what’s left of society into chaos. K’s discovery leads him on a quest to find Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford), a former LAPD blade runner who has been missing for 30 years.
Star Wars: Episode VIII (Dec 15)
Having taken her first steps into a larger world in Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015), Rey continues her epic journey with Finn, Poe and Luke Skywalker in the next chapter of the saga.
Death Note (August 25)
A student who discovers a supernatural notebook that allows him to kill anyone begins a crusade against evil in order to rule the world as a benevolent human god. Then a deadly game of cat and mouse begins when a reclusive detective begins to track down the young man, attempting to end his reign of terror once and for all.
